We have collected a couple of videos from past annual conventions that help portray the friendly atmosphere at these conventions and the opportunity to learn about the glass and buy and sell pieces.

1993 Convention Highlights

Let's go back in time and look at some video from an early convention of the club, specifically the 1993 convention. These excerpts are arranged by topic and they should provide you with a feeling of what it feels like to attend one of our conventions.

Seminar on early Consolidated catalogs

Jack Wilson presented 35mm slides from pictures of an early Consolidated Glass Company catalog that he obtained by visiting Sinclair Glass Company in Hartford City, Indiana and then paying a professional photographer to photograph that catalog.

Show and Tell Session

We always have a "show & tell" session at the convention, where members show off unusual items they have found. It is also an opportunity to get questions answered on pieces they are unsure of.

Glass for sale in the rooms

Both collectors and dealers bring glass that is for sale. At the convention you will see more choice glass in a couple of days that by going to antique shows every weekend!

Banquet

We conclude the convention with a banquet on Saturday night.

Kelsey Murphy, Pilgrim Glass Company, banquet speaker

Kelsey Murphy was the Chief Designer at Pilgrom Glass Company in Ceredo, West Virginia. She spoke about two topics:

  1. Cameo glass production at Pilgrim
  2. Consolidated molds Pilgrim acquired from Sinclair Glass Company

Room displays at the 1993 Convention

Room displays are always a highlight of the convention. People pick out a theme and put together a display around that theme. We award three prizes for the best displays as voted upon by our members.

Ginger Jar Display at the 2011 Convention

Consolidated made ginger jars in three sizes (small, medium and large). They also made these ginger jars in a variety of different types of glass. The most common is milk glass but they also produced cased glass in blue and pink as well as a couple of varieties of red glass. Some ginger jars were decorated in house by Consolidated's decorators while others were purchased by outside decorating companies.

Test of SlideShare embed in two column table, with commentary in 2nd column

SlideShare embed using iframe in column 1

The commentary in the second column as well as the 2nd column, do not appear. Is this a conflict with iframe? Is there another way to accomplish this?

It looks like this requires a frameset and frames are not supported in some browsers. Is that correct? If so, should I punt on this approach?
